The board recently approved the purchase of a harrow to drag and maintain the public arenas. What are your opinions of the condition of footing in the arenas ?

Mike Crowley - Our Arena Maintenance Officer was contacted today. He has already dragged the main arena and is planning to drag the upper arena on Tuesday April 14th.

TR&R would like to extend a profound thanks for his service !
At the June 5'th board meeting Jeff Routledge was elected as arena manager. Please address any concerns or suggestions to him directly.
The regular meeting of TR&R on April 1st was held at the Equestrian Center to address just these issues. An arena consultant and construction contractor named Ron Johnson from Triple Crown Arenas came with his expertise to give TR&R a bid and his recommendations on repairing and re-establishing the footing. We have a bid now before the board and are pursuing the City Parks & Rec's to see what budget movement can be done before we move to the next fundraising phases. Our hope is to have an idea very soon on a date for this work so it will be completed in time for the upcoming shows. The first show is May 3rd, so we will have an update for you very soon. The contractor estimated about two weeks to complete both arenas, so we realize time is running out for the first show. In the mean time the main arena is dragged and is in much much better condition of course than the upper arena. More information to follow.
Hi Wendy,

The City has agreed to pay for the upgrade of the arenas which will include removing the excess sand and fixing the footing of the upper arena as well as making a more permanent retaining edge to allow for proper drainage when it rains so the South side won't fill with water anymore. The lower arena has been looked at now by 3 different contractors and we will be sweetening the sand contents there and also hopefully enhancing the watering system for a more thorough and simplified watering as well. The goal is to have this completed now before the end of the year so it will be done in time for the 2010 season. We are also dressing up the judges booth and giving the park a facelift that is long overdue.
Wright Excavation was selected by Parks and Recreation to perform the necessary footing maintenance on the upper arena. They have done a superb job of laser leveling the public arena to a depth of 2.5 "s. This is a huge improvement and will make the practice arena a safe place to warm up for our busy show schedule this year. Also take a look at this work in progress in the pictures section.
